I have this tendency or habit as you might call it, to purchase games with less than favorable reviews when I see them discounted. I'm not sure why, I guess it's that I might find that diamond in the rough, that gaming gem overlooked by so many, as certain games tend to these days with the many releases. Most of the time they aren't awful games, mainly just older titles, reduced. But on occasion I find that I've made some grave mistake, setting foot upon something that bares a grudge against the world. This time, it was Too Human.
Everyone know the story of Too Human and it's tormented development cycle, so it was never a surprise the game was the lackluster showing it became. What I wasn't prepared for was just how bad some aspects of this game are, I actually found it hard to find anything appealing about it. I'm not even sure where to start, you can at times see what they were trying to do, but it will continuously fight you, and find ways to make you want to rage quit.
The monotonous and repetitive game play, the sterile graphics and environments, the bland sound and awful camera and movement system. But the icing, for me, are the ungodly controls. I would put them somewhere up near Gunvalkyrie just for sheer awkwardness. If they weren't so bad there might be some actual playability, but sadly it's is just one long lesson in frustration and dying, a lot. At the end of it though I expect a game like Too Human to be a fun, fast paced action game with RPG elements, sadly though you are left with something that just makes you want to sigh as you press the eject button.
